Beautiful setting

You definitely cannot check in before 4pm as the office is shut during the middle of the day. Reception staff seemed quite standoffish but perhaps this was because of our limited French. It seemed to greatly amuse the person who checked us in that we had the desire to buy food when arriving on a Sunday... afternoon (nb all shops are shut on a Sunday afternoon). He did sell us some milk and orange juice - thank goodness.
You cannot drive up to your chalet, you have to use a trolley to move your luggage and linen (we hired at extra cost).
The chalets themselves are really well designed and perfect for our party of two adults and one child. There are two dining areas - one inside and another outside. The kitchen does not have an oven or grill or toaster. The dishwasher is a plus.
The kettle blew its fuse on the second day - but was quickly replaced.
There is the possibility of using a washing machine on site, with a charge, but we managed with hand washing - a clothes horse is provided.
We were told very sternly at check-in that we were to leave the chalet as clean as we found it (actually some bits were not too clean!) and that all the cleaning equipment was provided but there was no mop. And you are expected to bring scourers, cloths, tea towels and washing up liquid etc. we have lived with the black cloud over us that our English cleaning standards will not satisfy the French - if this happens we will be charged €55!
There is a lack of hooks for coats etc and the second bedroom has no mirror.
Due to the sliding doors on to the terrace from the kitchen/living area the chalet has lots of light. Our view is of the grounds and swimming pool.
It would be good to have mosquito netting on the windows in the bedrooms.
The shower is very powerful and there is an abundance of hot water (be careful as it can come out very hot). The toilet is separate from the shower which is really helpful.
The swimming pool is a good size and provided lots of fun times. The baby pool was shut.
The wifi is terrible! We have not been able to connect for any significant time - and some devices do not connect at all. The TV only has French channels - luckily my son was an angel and did not complain (often) of the lack of Kids YouTube!
There are a number of recycling points on the site including a food compost bin. We would recommend more frequent emptying to discourage flies.
The setting is gorgeous- by the lake and a short walk from a fabulous restaurant. The site no longer provides breakfast. It is very peaceful and the surrounding area is lovely. We had good visits to La Ferme du Monde (in the rain!) and the Prehistoric Park. Vannes is about 40 minutes away and was great to visit too.
We mainly shopped at Super U near Malansac, but were lucky to get to the Questembert weekly market on the Monday.

Beautiful setting with drawbacks

We booked two cabins months ago as we were planning a touring trip of France. We arrived at 3:30 pm and found that the only access to reception by car was designated for handicapped parking only and we had to drive around to the end of the lake to park near the cabins and then walk the half mile back... to check in. The reception was closed and locked. Eventually someone arrived arrived to check us in and informed us that if we wanted sheets and towels we would have to pay for them; 7 euros each for sheets and 6 euros for towels. We were also informed that we needed to purchase a pack containing dish soap, a sponge and toilet paper and leave the cabin clean ready for the next guests including cleaning the bathroom, kitchen, and floor. As there were no cleaning supplies it was difficult to do this. As we were visiting France from Canada, we did not think that we needed to take supplies of this nature.
The property is lovely and is specifically geared towards young families who may go for a week or more and take all they need with them. It is safe for children and has various interests for children as well as space to run and play. While the pool would have been lovely - and we booked this place because it had a pool - the pool was broken and empty of water. There was no compensation offered to us.
Rochefort en Terre is delightful and a pleasant 15 minute walk from the property; however, it is geared towards tourists and has limited amenities such as a a grocery store. We found a good one in a neighbouring village but it was a drive to get there.
On reading the other reviews of this pretty property I agree with all that others have written and the difficulties we encountered may be teething troubles. A toaster and teapot would have been well used and the stove was difficult to use with inadequate instructions. The mattress cover that was on the bed when we arrived had a moisture resistant backing that made it hot and uncomfortable for sleeping.
I wouldn't stay here again as a tourist but the accommodation may be very desirable for people traveling with young families who are in a position to take everything they need with them.
The grounds are in great need of attention; lawns need to be cut and some flowers planted to give the place more appeal. Hiring staff is expensive but my opinion as a world traveler is that this property is in great need of more help to ensure its continued success.

Superb value and lovely setting

We arrived quite late to find the restaurant closed and as sign on the door directing to a safe to pick up keys, and a telephone number to call. When calling initially they had trouble locating our booking though hotels.com, but after few minutes have a code to the safe in order to pick up keys. The... car park was a little bit far from our cabin which made unloading and loading the car a little awkward. Especially as we arrived as it was getting dark and had to leave during the early hours of the morning. But aside from that. The accomodation was clean, well laid out and had almost everything you could ask for. However the lack of an oven/grill made things a little difficult. Though there was a BBQ area, if the weather was bad there was no contingency. Also a toasted would have been useful in the absence of a grill. The swimming pool was nice and the kids and enjoyed a morning swim every day. The grounds are stunning and the site was quite and relaxed. The location is superb, with beautiful beaches, gorgeous chateaux, stunning medieval villages and towns all within an hour's drive. Rochefort en Terre was lovely although geared towards tourism. Guerande again a very pretty walled town, but heavily tourist orientated. We found it a great base for exploring everything southern Brittany had to offer.

Could be Very Good but..

Booking this place was a gamble on my part. It was probably worth it.
The place is new. The cabins are well equipped with most modern conveniences. The setting is lovely and Rochefort is a pretty village - unfortunately it has been taken over by tourism so if jewelry, gift and art shops are your thing... this is the place for you. Other conveniences limited. There is a boulangerie but other than creperies little else so stock up on provisions in nearby towns first.
The downside;
While the cabins are well equipped inside if a little bare in decoration, they are drab and unattractive exteriors, various dull shades of grey, black and blue.
There is an absolute dearth of instructions for appliances or helpful information provided. There appears to be no website (Wifi poor anyway) to give guests an idea of what they need to bring - bedding towels, cleaning equipment etc
The grounds are not well tended. No flowers, grass if it could be called that not properly cut or mown.
Outside lighting poor.
It may be that once the management has got over the teething problems of a new start up these problems will be overcome. I fear however, that the site is operated on the minimum of labour and they will not.
The staff at reception were as helpful as they could be..
One to be watched but has promise

Gorgeous setting

Fantastic setting. Couple of small points to note that we didn't initially realise. Check In & reception is across from the chalets and within the bar/restaurant. The bar closed at 8pm each night, though maybe 9pm on a Fri & Sat. They were extremely helpful on our first night though and let us buy some... drink to take back to the Chalet/Cabin.
Chalet/Cabins were brilliant, almost brand new I would say (we stayed Aug 17), every mod con, clean and modern. we had superb view straight over the lake (Cabin 106). There's only probably 30 cabins in total.
Pool was lovely & warm. Definitely would stay again if in the area. Must visit Rochefort - gorgeous and Branfere Zoo.
Be aware though to either take bedding and towels as these are not included. can be hired when there for about 5 euros per bed for the week.
