Kell am See is located 200 kilometres from Maastricht in the Hunsrück low mountain range in Germany. It is located south of Germany's oldest city, Trier. Here you will find many remains from the Roman Empire, such as the Porta Nigra, the thermal baths and the amphitheatre. If you are looking for a special outing, take a romantic boat trip on the River Saar or visit the noble stone town of Idar-Oberstein with its rock church the Felsenkirche and castle ruins. In winter, the Erbeskopf ski slope is a must. At the top is a lookout tower, from where you can see the Rhenish slate plateau.
